About The Pinwheels

Eccentric, dynamic, versatile and fun – these are the main ingredients of “The Pinwheels” style. Iris, David, Cristi, Wattie and Barni are the five members of the band from Targu Mures, who put their minds together to create tasteful songs, flavoured with heavy, punk, funk, alternative rock and ska elements. Adding modern vibes to the old school style, they create a new, contemporary fashionable sound. The members of “The Pinwheels” come from previous musical projects, each one of them having experience in playing on stage, songwriting and touring. Iris Danciu was active in acoustic and electric bands, as a vocalist and bass player. Wattie Barricade and Barni Madarász came together from a ska punk band, bringing along the influence, attitude and energy of that genre. David Kusztos was also active in many bands, not only as an instrumentalist, but as a vocalist too. He is also the one who makes the music videos of the band. Cristian Ionescu comes to complete the band’s sound with his musical influences and his heavy guitar riffs. Having a classical guitar background, previously playing in other rock bands from Targu Mures, Cristi completes the dynamique and The Pinwheels style. In April 2015, the band released their debut album, “Liquid Tales”, and they started a tour in Romania and outside the country. Their first single and music video released in March, “The Ballad of Freddie the Bartender” gained a lot of positive feedback from the public. They are currently working on new music videos and songs, and will release their second album next year. The vivacity of their songs earned popularity, attention and great feedback. Along with their artistic side and their musical skills, they reveal a wild, explosive side that can be seen during their live shows, instigating those who want to have fun and dance. Mosh pit, stage diving, wall of death, dancing, broken bones and guitars – their concerts have all the ingredients one might need. They won METALHEAD’s Best Alternative Newcomer Award of 2015. For “The Pinwheels”, everything comes down to evolution and the passion in songwriting, amplified by their energetic concerts. Alternative rock band from the heart of Transylvania.
