About The Midwest
When Shaun McGyver and Tyler Priest first met in Chicago Illinois, they knew they were meant to play music together. After performing and writing for over a year, they felt something was missing. They turned to friend, and fellow Chicago musician, Eli Taber, who brought his blues-infused style into the fold. After performing together for several months, they felt it was time to add another component to the group, tapping long-time friend of Tyler, Kwame Martin. Later on the band accumulated a wonderful addition to the Bass problem they were having by adding Thomas Gumble to the group. Together they found the sound they had been looking for, and began playing around the city on a regular basis. Now they continue their growth, with the release of their much anticipated record, Where the Yard Used to Be, in May 2014. You know what The Midwest is? Young and reckless.
