About the Loneliest Monk

Chicago's original art rock duo, The Loneliest Monk, is the creative partnership of Michelle Morales (vocals, cello) and Miles Benjamin (vocals, drums). The group mixes dynamic harmonies and heavy beats with layers of atmospheric electric cello loops. The Chicago Tribune describes The Loneliest Monk as a "a masquerade ball… songs that often sound as though they’re cobbled together from old ghosts and memories". Morales, front lady and master cellist, has over 22 years of cello performance and has played with the likes of Phillip Glass, Kanye West, and The Foo Fighters. Together Morales and Benjamin craft a sound that reaches beyond what one would expect from only two musicians. If you can imagine Bjork and St. Vincent creating music together then you will begin to find the sound that is The Loneliest Monk. Lady Cello & The Masked Man www.wearetheloneliestmonk.com
