The Gypsyswingers

Founded by Mario Piccolo in Chattanooga, TN. with original bassist Bohne Forseberg. Met Alina Quu in the streets of Asheville, after she had moved up from New Orleans. They performed together for a little while with Luke Norton on mandolin and Drayton Aldridge on violin. Travel spells put the band on hold in the summer of 2012, and new members Wendi Loomis (vocals, flute and clarinet) and Sean Mabe (rhythm guitar) joined Mario. Alina returned and the band was collaborating with James Condino (excellent luthier) on bass. Today, you can find the core group as Mario, Alina, Drayton, Sean and new bassist Craig Sandberg. The Gypsy Swingers is an up tempo acoustic jazz band playing in a style reminiscent of European Swing Jazz , American Early Jazz with a little South American/Latin flavor.
