TARRAGONA MUSIC

TARRAGONA is a hard rock and heavy metal band from Zwolle, consisting of the tremendous vocalist and songwriter guitarist Vidal Wildeboer, the strenuous drummer Stef Hoekjen, the lead guitarist and songwriter, Lennart van Kampen and the creative bassist Bas Bijsterbosch. Four young talented guys aged between 19 and 20 who flourish in one of the most spectacular hard rock and heavy metal band from the Dutch scene. With their own compositions, self-written lyrics and unique sound, they stick together literally and metaphorically: ‘as strong as iron’. In this sense, TARRAGONA distinguishes itself by far amongst the many other rock and metal bands in our little country. Influences from bands such as Alter Bridge, Pantera, System Of A Down and Metallica are powerful in their music.
Accompanied by a delirious audience, TARRAGONA had various performances and locations behind, such as: Bevrijdingsfestival Overijssel (Liberation Day Festival Overijssel), Stonerock Festival and an opening act for the American metal band Mastodon. Among TARRAGONA’s performances, they also took part in different competitions where they were often nominated among the best (winners of the Student Band Festival in Zwolle, 2nd place Emergenza - The Netherlands). The jury’s remark at the Pré Party of the Geldersch Metal Treffen 2014 was:
‘This young hard rock/heavy metal band has surprised us in an incredibly positive way! What they have let us hear belongs to an extremely high level. We have unanimously decided that they will play this year at the Geldersch Metal Treffen Festival!’.
TARRAGONA’s band members come from different corners of the Netherlands.
Vidal Wildeboer (1994), was born in Amsterdam and grew up in Lelystad. He has been playing guitar since he was 6 years old and has also been active in different (metal) bands at a young age.
Lennart (1995) currently lives in Dronten, where he also opened his eyes for the first time. He started playing the guitar at the age of 14.
Steven (1994) has been living almost his whole life in the former fishing village Huizen and started making music at the age of 14, just the same as Lennart. He learned to play the bass from the old bassist of Massada, who noticed his talent.
Stef (1995) was born and raised in Nijverdal, where he is also a drummer of the local bands. At the age of 7 he began drumming, and now and then he also plays guitar.
In 2012, they all met each other in Deltion College in Zwolle, during their Music study. In January 2014, TARRAGONA was formed at the beginning of their internship in Hedon. Each with their own characteristics, they stuck to each other in an extremely cool way. That’s how their first single ‘Shall We Remain’ was created. They have written more songs in the meantime, such as: ‘The Insane’, ‘Deathrace’ and ‘Whisper In The Wind’.
Whether TARRAGONA plays in the opening act for Mastodon in De Melkweg or in a small concert hall, the enthusiastic audience always enjoys a dynamic, musical and outrageous performance.
TARRAGONA’s debut EP ‘Shall We Remain?’ and the music video with the same name, were released in November 2014.

TARRAGONA is een hardrock en heavy metal band uit Zwolle, bestaande uit de geweldige zanger en songschrijvende gitarist Vidal Wildeboer, de energieke drummer Stef Hoekjen, de solerend c.q. song schrijvend gitarist Lennart van Kampen en de componerende bassist Bastiaan Bijsterbosch. Vier jonge mannelijke talenten in de leeftijd van 18 tot 20 jaar die de toon zetten in één van de beste aanstormende hardrock en heavy metalbands van Nederlandse bodem. Met hun eigen composities, zelfgeschreven teksten en unieke sound spelen zij letterlijk en figuurlijk ijzersterk op elkaar in. Hiermee onderscheidt TARRAGONA zich met kop en schouders van de andere rock en metal bands in ons kikkerlandje. Invloeden van bands als Alter Bridge, Pantera, System Of A Down en Metallica zijn goed in hun muziek te herkennen.

Vergezeld van een razend enthousiast publiek heeft TARRAGONA zeer uiteenlopende optredens en optreedlocaties achter de rug zoals Bevrijdingsfestival Overijssel, Stonerock Festival en het voorprogramma van de Amerikaanse metalband Mastodon. Onder de performances van TARRAGONA namen zij deel aan diverse wedstrijden, waar zij vaak tot de besten behoorden (winnaar Studenten Band Festival Zwolle 2014, 2e plaats Emergenza Nederland) Het commentaar van de jury bij de Pré Party van de Geldersch Metal Treffen 2014 was:

‘Deze jonge hardrock/heavy metal band heeft ons ontzettend positief verrast! Wat zij lieten horen was van een ontzettend hoog niveau. We hebben dan ook unaniem besloten dat zij dit jaar op het Geldersch Metal Treffen zullen spelen!’.

De bandleden van TARRAGONA komen uit verschillende windstreken van Nederland.
Vidal Wildeboer (1994), geboren te Amsterdam, groeide op in Lelystad. Al sinds zijn zesde jaar speelt hij gitaar en is al op jonge leeftijd in diverse (Metal)bandjes actief.
Lennart (1995), wonende te Dronten, zag daar ook het eerste levenslicht. Op 14 jarige leeftijd begon hij met gitaarspelen
Steven (1994), woont al bijna zijn hele leven in het voormalig vissersdorp Huizen en begon net als Lennart op 14 jarige leeftijd met muziek maken. Hij leerde basspelen van de vroegere bassist van Massada die direct talent in hem zag.
Stef (1995) is geboren en getogen in Nijverdal, hij speelt daar ook als drummer in de plaatselijke bands. Op zijn 7e begon Stef met ‘trommelen’, zoals hij het zelf noemt, en speelt af en toe gitaar.

In 2012 vonden zij elkaars gelijke op het Zwolse Deltion College tijdens de opleiding Muziek Artiest. In januari 2014, tegelijk met het begin van hun stage bij Hedon, werd de band TARRAGONA opgericht. Met ieder hun eigen specialiteit speelden zij uitermate cool op elkaar in. Zo ontstond hun eerste hit ‘Shall We Remain’. Inmiddels hebben zij meer nummers geschreven zoals ‘The Insane’, 'Deathrace’ en ‘Whisper In The Wind’.
Of TARRAGONA nou in de Melkweg, het voorprogramma van Mastodon of in een kleine zaal met intimi optreedt, het enthousiaste publiek geniet altijd van een energiek, muzikaal en uitbundig optreden.

November 2014 bracht TARRAGONA hun eerste EP "Shall We Remain?" uit.
