About T.Williams
There’s something to be said for getting noticed, for standing out from the crowd, London bred taste maker T.Williams, exemplifies this. A student of house music, Williams has accomplished a full sweep of merited recognition that has accelerated over the last five years.
Emerging onto the house scene in 2010, T.Williams instantly marked himself as a breakthrough artist with a difference; his unique take on house music has been fruitful has in turn, rewarded him with a loyal allegiance of supporters. Whilst he may appear new to the house scene, Tesfa Williams is far from a newcomer to music with almost twenty years of experience behind him having cut his teeth in the grime scene as Dread.D.
Signed at the tender age of 17 to Jon E Cash’s Black Op’s with ‘Invasion’, Williams went on to have mass success in the grime and bass world, selling thousands of singles worldwide. After a five year reign in the realm of grime, Williams found himself veering towards the world of house music.
In 2010 a number of zeitgeist releases from Williams proved too good to ignore, one such release was hit record ‘Heartbeat’ featuring vocalist Terri Walker. The track played extensively worldwide before settling in at no.2 as iTunes best dance track of the year. In 2011 T.Williams defined himself further by releasing solo works on his own Deep Teknologi imprint, Local Action and Pattern.
Williams’ remixes for Maya Jane Coles, Charli XCX, Ben Westbeech and Skream were also received with high regard. The end of 2011 saw T.Williams receive a number of accolades and cemented his ability to carve out a career as a serious taste maker. He was nominated as ‘Best Breakthrough DJ’ by DJ Mag, named as one of the ‘DJ Stars of 2012’ by Time Out and picked by The Guardian for his Fact Magazine mix as one of their favourites of the year.
In 2012, two relationships came to the fore and propelled Williams to even greater heights. The first was his weekly show on the legendary London radio station, Rinse FM, a show that featured the likes of Jessie Ware, Soul Clap, MK, Dusky and Duke Dumont as guests; culminating in T mixing Rinse 21, one of the most vital of the renowned mix series to date.
With all of these accolades behind him T.Williams signed to PMR records in 2013 alongside the likes of Julio Bashmore & Disclosure. He gained a spot on the prestigious Radio 1 “Residency” which facilitated a number of bookings and performances at multiple clubs and festivals around the world, by the end of 2014 Williams had performed over 100 shows across 4 different continents. Having accumulated a global perspective from touring the world, the aficionado started a new Label "Today,Tomorrow Records” with the focus on releasing music from the pool of talented people he had made connections with over the years.
This lead to a massive collaboration with UK garage legend MJ Cole in 2015, on the labels first EP “Acoustic Treatment” which gained huge support from Radio 1’s Danny Howard. This seal of approval saw Tesfa play at London's world renowned Fabric, in room 1 alongside Groove Armada and Moxie. He also completed a number of successful headline tours to showcase the EP, which saw him return to Australia, Asia and North America, much to the delight of his die hard following.
Signing and releasing a fresh EP on New York's long standing classic House label “Strictly Rhythm” and hitting the No.2 spot on Radio 1’s dance chart with collab "Do You” saw T.Williams picked by Traxsource as 1 of their “10 Artist To Watch” in 2016.
2017 looks ever brighter for the West Londoner as he starts work on Vol.3 of his "Sodality” Series whilst collaborating with Julio Bashmore and James Jacob, all the while further expanding his global touring schedule.
