About Steve O'Brien

Who is Steve O'Brien? Let me answer that question for you. He is the human formerly know as Steve Hille. He goes by O'Brien as a memoriam to his later mother, as a way to keep her name going and the continuance of her legacy. Steve O'Brien is a Missouri based emcee who was born in Dogtown(St.Louis) Shortly after birth his family relocated to the county, Pevely,MO. In 5th grade he moved to Steelville,MO and that's where he calls home. He claims to be "SoMO", that's short for so Missouri and put on for small towns all over. His originality is what has led to his small success as an emcee. His biggest musical influences are Breaking Benjamin, Eminem, Yelawolf, and Tupac. He focuses on the message behind is music instead of the next "club banger". His message is to remain positive and to stay away from negativity and to see the positive in every negative actions. His fan base lables this "The O'Brien Effect". But when did this start? O'Brien had been writing music for 8 years before deciding to jump in the studio and let the world hear. It was his plan. Patience. His first performance was at a diver bar on the southside of St. Louis in March of 2015, he then continued to perform there every other Tuesday for the remainder of the year developing a sense of original style and stage presence. He was preparing himself for the bigger stage. He then released his 1st debut EP "The ComeUp", with tracks produced by St. Louis's own EJ Carter of the Red Shirt Freshman. He first hit the stage for Lil Whyte in January and since then there was no looking back as he toured the state promoting and networking his brand. He has opened for his favorite St Lunatic, Murphy Lee, as well as PREACH, Jelly Roll, Bubba Sparxxx, and just recently, Stevie Stone. He's closing in on his 50th show since January and he has put the footwork in from St. Louis to Springfield, Cuba, Rolla, Imperial, Festus, Sauget, Fulton, Jefferson City, Columbia, Boonville, Kansas City, and Lawrence, KS. Allowing this journey he has helped establish a music movement out of central Missouri called the MO'Heathens, consisting of emcees from Jefferson City, Columbia, Fulton and St Louis. #MidMoMovement Some of his credentials already are a full spread article written about his inspiring journey in his Local small town newspaper, where he was also blessed to make the front cover. He was also a part of a food drive thrown by him and the MO'Heathens Where the became the first hip hop group to perform live on the Capitals front lawn. They raised 800 perishable food items for the communities children living in poverty. He's also been a guest on What's The Word radio, a local internet station located on the south of St. Louis. In conclusion, Steve O'Brien is a lyricist just trying to bring relatable music back to the radio waves, because after all, relativity to the words in music is what helped him through all his endeavors in life and he hopes he can help others get through their times via the message he is preaching. My dreams are not to become famous, but to become heard. After all music saved my life. If only 1 person would relate to my music...my job has been done.
