Soulforge is 100% Australian Melodic Metal, from the outback mining town of Broken Hill, Australia. Starting with five friends cranking their amps and screaming along to favourites such as Iron Maiden, Arch Enemy, Judas Priest and Blind Guardian, the band soon found the style that worked for them. Original songs amassed, with vocals evolving to a hybrid of Bon Scott, Bruce Dickinson and Dio, and the guitars resembling power metals classic twin axe men. Lyrical inspiration was drawn from movies such as Ghost Rider, The Man from Earth and Anne Rice Novels, The Vampire Chronicles. The debut album, Fields of Decay, released in July 2011 was recorded and mixed by Andy Kite, of Against the Grain Studios, and Mastered by Jens Bogren of Fascination Street Studios, Sweden, the studio that produced bands such as Amon Amarth, Opeth and Hammerfall. They then enlisted the services of renowned cover artist Felipe Machado Franco for the album art (Blind Guardian, Rhapsody). Soulforge have been touring extensively across Australia, most recently supporting international act Ensiferum at their Sydney show. They will be returning to Sydney in November for a second performance at Steel Assassins and continuing on the November tour of Australia with New Zealand thrashers Razorwyre.
