Sky Of Rage

The beginning.... In the autumn of 2009 the two old friends Tomas Friberg and Joachim Nordlund was (as usual) drinking beer and listening to old heavy metal. Suddenly Tomas said to Joachim: I'm a drummer and you have a studio, and as far as I'm concerned you're a fucking good guitarplayer, why don't we write some songs together? Well, why not! Joachim answered. A couple of hours (and beers) later the first song had seen it's light. Heavy guitarriffs was in the making! How some of the riffs came up you wonder? Tomas is a very talanted drummer I must say but when it comes to guitar he's a retard, so he simply riffs with his mouth and record it with his phone! Crazy dude! The singer.... After a couple of month a few songs were written and the duo needed a singer for the project. They both wanted a singer that could both growl and sing with a more clean voice becauce they thougt the songs needed that kind of approach. They tried a couple of singers but without finding what they were looking for. It was a hopeless case..........until Tomas came to think of a guy he'd worked with for a while in Stockholm years ago..... I know this guy Joachim said. He's a fucking good singer but is he right for this heavy style? What I can remember he only sings westcoast rock and that kind of cheesy stuff. Ok, what do we have to loose? Let's ask if he's interested. Thank god he was! By the way, his name is Staffan Carlsson. Staffan got a bunch of songs and started to work with the vocallines and lyrics right away. It took a while for Staffan to feel comfortable with this kind of heavy metal, but when he had nailed two or three songs they all three knew that they had find a unique sound. The band.... The songwriting proceeded under 2010 and when about 10 songs were finished they all felt that this is to good for beeing just a 3 piece project, we got to start a band! Janne Cederlund (ex. Thalamus), an ambitious guitarplayer Tomas had played with earlier in different local bands was the first name that came up, and a handshake later they had thier new axman. To find a bassplayer seemed to be a bit harder. Until one night in the spring of 2011 when Joachim was out drinking beer and listening to a band at the local pub. At the same place he met Mika Itäranta. Mika had left Joachims Astral Doors two years earlier but now he'd got the spirit of rock'n roll back again. He asked Joachim if he knew a band that needed a bassplayer and that was just the question the drunk guitarplayer wanted to hear. The band was complete and more beer was running down the throats that night.... The first Record.... Now when the band was complete Joachim played a couple of songs for Metallville, the label he has with Astral Doors. Great news! They liked what they heard and wanted to release a record with the band. Some more songs were written in the autumn/winter 2011/2012 to make sure that it's gonna be a killer cd. When everything was recorded in Joachims Big Turn Studio in the beginning of 2012 they started to search for someone to mix the songs. The job went to Martin Haglund, the former guitarrist of Astral Doors, a great friend and studiotech. He did a great job as usual and the eleven songs that the guys had picked out for the cd sounded awsome. The releasedate for Sky of Rage debut album is set to July 27th 2012. Swedish metalband formed 2011 in Borlänge, debut album out July 27 2012 !!
