SKETCH WILLIAMS SEVENTH STUDIO ALBUM IS DEDICATED TO HIS FATHER
 Sketch Williams’ seventh studio album, “Dedication”, is a musical hybrid of 60’s influence mixed with folk, drum & bass and pop, a stark contrast of Williams’ previous work. Prior to his collaboration with Sisu Entertainment he was known as a hip hop artist.

“I told my producer Narinder Singh that I want to record a different kind of album than before. I wanted it to be super musical and energetic. I think that reinventing myself is one of the most beautiful qualities that I can do as an artist.”

Winnipeg’s native son started to take piano lessons when he was four. He also plays the ukulele, mandolin, banjo, drums, guitar and bass. 

“I got into pop music and hip hop when I was in high school. Later I was studying production engineering in Berklee College of Music in Boston. There I geared more toward doing my own music and my professors encouraged me to continue that.” Dedication: Recorded in 20 Days “Dedication”, a completely live album was written in 20 days. “Two songs, “Ignite the Soul” and ‘”Hey Yo”, were written before I went to the studio. Eight songs were written in the first four days in the studio. I do melodies first and then lyrics. That way I can pour out my emotions more.”

He thanks his producer Narinder ‘Jeliah’ Singh and executive producer Jouni Kari. “Narinder and Jouni pushed me to a different level. Narinder’s thoughts are deeper than mine and Jouni makes my songs better. We worked well together. We didn’t want to over produce this album, so we kept some human nuances there. You can hear the breath of the violinist or some laugh.” 

 Inspiration Williams’ biggest inspiration for this album was his dad, David, who passed away last year from cancer. “My dad always liked music. He was a drummer when he was younger but he gave it up to become a financial advisor. I got a lot of my people skills from him.”

At the recording studio Williams finally had time to deal with his sorrow. “At the studio I had time to myself. I was emotionally raw and vulnerable. You can hear it from the songs. There is a lot of love in this album and I dedicate it to my father.”
