About Shayne Berlin

There are all kinds of Blues styles out there and Shayne Berlin’s proud to say he plays the Northern Blues. Throughout the years he’s experimented with mixing Hard Rock, Blues, Metal, and Acoustic Rock sounds into his music. Ry Cooder, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Pantera, and Alice in Chains are just some on his long list of musical influences; Now don’t get me wrong he’s an original. He sets himself apart by never being one to follow trends and not always abiding by the rules of musical theory. Shayne may like all kinds of music, but he lives and breathes the Blues, so that’s where his heart seems to be. Having gone through hell and back has given him plenty of experiences he uses in his song writing. His musical journey is something he wants to share with everyone and anyone who’s willing to listen. When Shayne was 13 his Uncle gave him his first guitar, a Hohner Telecaster. Three years later, at the age of 16, he was teaching guitar and playing in bars with his high school band Zig Zag Jezus. The band eventually fell apart once reality kicked in that paying the bills had to be a priority, but he never gave up on his dream or passion to share the gift of music. In 2006, Shayne Berlin was a semi-finalist at the P.N.E, in Vancouver, for the British Columbia Star Search. He performed “Hellhound Blues”, a personal tribute written for Mr. Robert Johnson, ‘King of the Delta Blues’. He’s recorded at Armoury Studios with Scott McCargar (former drummer for Bif Naked), John Kerns (bass player from Age Of Electric), and world famous harp player Keith Bennett . Recently, Shayne’s song “I Run From the Devil” was selected to be featured in the upcoming horror film “Prosper”. He is currently working hard with Manager Shawn O'Hearn and Producer Matt Faulkner on some new projects. Here’s some of the feedback he’s gotten on his Reverbnation page : ‘Wicked dirty and lowdown blues to make you shriek in the night..diggin your intense, thousand-yard stare mood and groove..that "run from the devil" tune is hellishly tasty!! Stunning playing and vocals!!’ ‘You’ve got a bourbon and burnt charcoal voice. Very impressive!’ ‘You do play the fucking northern blues. You put so much style into it--you've made it your own. Your sound is so raw and in the moment' ’'Very impressive and expressive songs and sound! I'm crazy about "I Run From the Devil." Awesome instrumentation, vocals, and lyrics. What a great song' “Are you sure you're not from Georgia or Alabama? Canada's a little far north to be sounding this good... Good luck!' “Love your gritty old-school style blues...genuine and down to earth, you're the real deal!” Finally I just want to say thanks for the support and please download & share the tunes! Currently # 2 on the #Blues charts for #Vancouver Stay tuned for the NEW Zig Zag JeZus!!! www.reverbnation.com/ZigZagJeZus www.twitter.com/ZigZagJeZus *Bio written by Kylla Jackson www.myspace.com/shayneberlin www.reverbnation.com/ZigZagJeZus www.twitter.com/ZigZagJeZus
