Sham Is A Suit-Clad Duo From Brooklyn That Blends Blues, Funk, Soul, Rock, And Jazz To Create A Sound Like Infinity: Unhindered, Timeless, And So True To The Human Spirit That Anyone From Anywhere Can Love It. Sham’s All Original Sound Evokes Memories Of The Doors And The White Stripes From High-Energy Rock Jams For Dancing And Moshing, To Mellow Soulful Ballads That Recall Marvin Gaye And Stevie Wonder. The Two Men Behind Sham Are Brett Benowitz On Guitar And Bass, And Damian Hudson On Drums And Keys. Both Men Sing, Write, And Command The Stage With Ease Being Veterans Of Theatre. Rightfully So Theybring Mystery And Wonder To Their Songs By Donning Masks:Brett A Golden Mask Of Comedy, And Damian A White Mask Of Tragedy. With Two Men, Two Suits, Two Masks, And Oneinfinite Sound, Sham Is Unstoppable. Shall We Sham? Sham We Shall. Brett Adam Benowitz born in New Port Beach California 10/23/1988. He grew up listening to his mom sing Patsy Cline and Bob Dylan on the piano, and his dad play The Doors and The Grateful Dead on the radio. He started singing and playing piano at an early age and later picked up the guitar and began to write songs. When he was 20 he studied abroad in Israel and for the first time performed his original songs in bars and clubs with his guitar duo band, Lechem V’Dagan. There he decided to make music his mission in life, and after graduating UGA two years later, Brett moved to Brooklyn to make music with Sham. He has since taken up the bass and soon the trumpet. Brett is influenced by Flea, John Frusciante, Jack White, Jeff Buckley, Jim Morrison, and John Lennon. Brett dons the Gold Comedy Mask. He stands Stage Left. Damian Lemar Hudson was born in Seattle Washington 1/6/1989. He grew up listening to his pops playing Sly and the Family Stone & James Brown. he started singing in church around 7 & was later given a keyboard from his father. in high school Damian was the front/keyboard player for the band Rubicon. The band spilt up and Damian headed for the university of Arizona to study a BFA in Musical Theatre. Along the way he experimented with Electronic music and wrote a Jazz Blues Musical, spanning a solo music career of 6 albums. after college Damian moved to Brooklyn, NY to make music with Sham. He has since then, taken up the Drums and the guitar. Damian is influenced Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Thelionious Monk, KanYe West, Radiohead, Toro Y Moi, Flying Lotus, John Coltrane, The White Stripes, Logic, Art Blakey, Muddy Waters, And Tman Tarintino Sham In NYC FACT SHEET Sham released their first single, “The Question” online on 4/1/12. At the end of that very month 4/30/2012 Sham released their first music video for “The Question”. It currently has 1,563 views on YouTube. One year later Sham released their debut album, Watch the House on 4/30/13 and generated approximately $200 from physical sales and approximately $100 from online sales. They produced the album in their apartment in Brooklyn. On 7/20/2013, Sham made their NYC concert debut at The Cutting Room on 44 east 32nd Street, midtown Manhattan. They played to a crowd of 20+ to make $200+ in ticket sales and approximately $500 in revenue for the venue from the $25 food and drink minimum. Sham’s second NYC performance was at Gussy’s Bar and Grille 7/26/13 20-14 29st Astoria, Queens.
