Tanzwut ist der Name einer 1999 in Berlin gegründeten Band, bestehend aus den Musikern TEUFEL (Vokals, Bagpipe) und RENÉ (Guitar), verstärkt durch den ZWILLING (Bass), Schlaf (Bagpipe) , SHUMON (Drums), Liam el Gigante (Keyboard, Bagpipe) und PYRO (Bagpipe), die gemeinsam die Musikwelt erschüttern wollen! Geschichte TANZWUT, der Name ist aus dem Mittelalter entlehnt: Als Mitte des 14. Jahrhunderts die Pest in Europa herrschte, wurde manchmal so lange ekstatisch getanzt, bis die Leute zusammenbrachen oder starben. Man hatte die Tanzwut, um Erschöpfung und Leid zu entkommen. Das gleichnamige Debütalbum Tanzwut wurde von Jon Caffery produziert, der bereits für Alben der Toten Hosen und Einstürzende Neubauten verantwortlich war. Tanzwut fanden viele Anhänger, was nicht zuletzt auch an den fulminanten Bühnenshows bei Liveauftritten liegt. Dabei spielt neben aufwendigen Outfits und Choreographien auch das Bandmitglied „TEUFEL“ eine Rolle, da er mit seinem kahlrasierten Schädel mit den zu Hörnern aufgestellten roten Haarbüscheln als optischer Mittelpunkt der Band dient. So schaffen es Tanzwut, auch in Mexiko große Hallen zu füllen. 2011 soll nun endlich das neue Album der Band das Licht der Welt erblicken. Man darf also gespannt in die Zukunft blicken. Ihre Musik vereint Mittelalterrock mit Anleihen aus der elektronischen Musik. Truly they will shake the world with new energy! The Idea of Tanzwut: The name is borrowed from the time of the middle ages. You will see the meaning of the word TANZWUT is quite interesting: in the 14th century, when plague stroke Europe and killed thousands of lives, some people started to dance ecstatically till some of them collapsed and died. They used this dancing fury to escape the exhaustion and suffering. The debut album called TANZWUT like the bands name was produced by Jon Caffery who already was responsible for albums of “Die Toten Hosen” and “Einstürzende Neubauten” (two famous punk bands at the time and still now). TANZWUT got even a lot of new fans and their own audience. One of the reasons certainly was and is their brilliant stage shows. Besides the elaborate outfits and choreography most certainly plays a big role as does band member TEUFEL: his bold head with the red horns made out of some last tufts of hair shaped to horns! He really is the optical centre of the band. TANZWUT made it to fill even the biggest venues in South America. 2011 the new album finally will be released show some refreshing TANWUT tunes!
