About Sawsound
Sawsound is the Experimental Rock band formed in 2009 by four ambitious collective musicians from Leeds, drawing upon many different influences and methods of live performance to bring the audience something rich and exciting.
From a heavy metal background, northern brothers Simon and Johnny Whitton (guitar & vocals/drums) have brought the precise hard hitting delivery of artists such as Mastodon, Tool and Metallica to the band’s sound, while Adam Greenhead (Bass) adds a more eclectic and worldly funk/groove playing style, heavily influenced by Radiohead, Primus and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Irish Tori Campbell (Vioin) completes the mix with her background in Celtic music, by bringing that archaic/classical ingredient that helps make Sawsound so unique. Being worldly band, with a collective songwriting style that is very improvised and art driven, Sawsound became increasingly spectacular.
Since the release of the debut album “We have it all” in 2011, Sawsound gained a following of passionate and hungry music fans, as well as attention of the radio stations and live music scene in UK. The band has been invited to perform at different venues across UK, such as The Brudenell (Leeds), Night and Day (Manchester), and the London venues: Underbelly, Proud Camden, Monto Water Rats and Nambucca.
Late 2012, the band opened for Carina Round (Interscope), and in November with Die So Fluid (Sanctuary). After recording new material with The Animal Farm label in London, the band are looking forward to more dates over the summer and a full tour in September 2013.
More recently...Drums, Strings, Brass and vocals add textures influenced by reggae, rock, jazz, folk and blues. With a love of playing London venues such as Passing Clouds, Hootananny and the Magic Garden and their associated festivals, the band are excited to share their unique brand of original music with a vast spectrum of live music lovers. The band have got years of touring and recording under their belt, so it's full steam ahead for 2016/17.
