Savage Remains

Inspired by a mutual love of apocalyptic science fiction, horror and all things grim and macabre, Fredericksburg, Virginia’s Savage Remains – vocalist Matt Alive, bassist M. Valdemar, guitarist Swinger Gallows and drummer Danny Decay – burst forth from the abyss in 2015 to bring about the end of days through a barrage of infectious punk rock barbarism. With a sound influenced by such legendary acts as the Misfits, Black Flag, the Ramones, as well as healthy doses of early hardcore brutality and rockabilly boogie, their self-styled Doomsday Punk is as abrasive as it is catchy. The band’s first full-length release, Resistance is Futile!, is twelve tracks of sledgehammer-to-the-face ferocity injected with choruses so big, you’ll pledge your soul to the Cult of Savage Remains before the end of the second track, “Bringing Out the Dead.” Not an act to rest for a second, when Savage Remains hasn’t been bringing their brand of feral intensity to the stage – many of which they’ve shared with the likes of Michale Graves, the Independents, Murder Junkies, the Cryptkeeper Five, the Parasites and others – these Virginia villains have been hard at work on their second LP, Brand New Disease. Surely a record to dance to while the Earth crumbles around you, Brand New Disease is nearing completion.
