About Sam Winston
THE JOURNEY TAKEN by singer-songwriter & multi-instrumentalist Sam Winston to his latest releases ('Til I Make Peace With War' and 'Damaged Goods') has not been straightforward. It has been circuitous, with several hurdles to overcome including health problems and a self-imposed hiatus after releasing his debut album, "The Fire & The Icicle".
Though as is frequently the case, it is in these hurdles that Sam found new creative strength. A conscious expression of his vulnerabilities, and the vicissitudes of life, is what underpins these new songs. "Both singles focus on the loss of self plus the negatives and positives associated with this. I try to touch upon the merits of a joyful surrender when faced with the death of the ego."
In addition to supporting Boy George on tour in Amsterdam, Sam has toured Belgium and Scotland with the support of Scottish guitar makers Bailey Guitars, a company who only use 100% renewable energy. This fact is important to Sam who owns and plays various Bailey instruments. When they were losing their factory, Sam aided them by curating a compilation album of his and others' works. Profits from it helped secure the Bailey premises.
Notable gigs for Sam include Dartford Festival; twice selling out the renowned Mick Jagger Centre; Folk On The Dock Fest; supporting Henry Priestman of The Christians & headlining the BBC Radio Stage at Chatham's Steam Fest.
Sam is an independent folk-pop multi-instrumentalist from South London. His debut album "The Fire & The Icicle" was written, arranged, recorded and produced by him in his own studio. All his material is available now to download and stream on major platforms. To download high quality recordings please visit his Bandcamp - https://samwinston.bandcamp.com and for further information please visit http://samwinstonmusic.com
