Sai U Drom

Actually I lied. It was a girl. A lady. That's how it all started. I looked like a wet rat. And felt like an unanswered prayer.
There was no chance for forgiveness. So I wrote it all down. Why you should forgive people like me. Cause we are good. Our hearts/minds are just sick.
And others chimed in.
"We are heartsick too!" they cried.
And then there was music
and dancing.
And they sang along to our song.

​SAI U DROM is a world/gypsy/punk/folk band from the NorthEast-Midwest US. The songs are based upon poetry turned folk songs written by one of its members. Live SAI U DROM can have anywhere from 4-9 members.

A friend of the band once decrdibed SAIUDROM as: "It's like an Irish pirate ship sailed by agorophobic Gypsies and captained by a mad Russian hobo, and powered with a nuclear arsenal of poetry."

That was a pretty great desription.

SAIUDROM members come from a huge variety of musical backgrounds. Memebrs have been in black metal bands to folk to jazz groups or synth based electronica to rock to crust punk bands.

All of us have a deep love for Eastern European music of the Roma, Irish music (especially the Pogues), punk ideology and anarcho-syndicalism. We drank like we imagined Tom Waits did.

We also adore Leonard Cohen.

There is no un-God and Leonard Cohen is his rocket.

Recovering from self-imposed exile Dylan Emelianoff strummed the foundation of a song; like a campfire in hell on a rainy night, others gathered round. The words swirled in his head and out his mouth
Through his fingers the melodies arose.
And then he started really singing.
It was more like roaring.

His brother in arms, music, and blood; Aram Emelianoff accompanied his roaring with a scream and growl of his own.

Eric Matson threw mandolin and guitar riffs like darts on bulls-eyes.

Through the delicate yet hardened fingers of Timothy Lang, an accordion bellowed while another melody arose from its keys leaping out into the rain.

Nichole Abbott began stomping her heals, the castenets a chiming, arms swaying and raised high in reverence. She accompanied Dylan's singing, with her own dynamic and sensual vocals.

The prodigal fingers of Tim Neimick added even more guitar glueing it all together with his beautiful spirit and skill. He also slapped a bass string or six.

Eric Donovan and Jeremy Gartner created the thunder of beats. And made the crowd that formed start moving. And a moving they did.

Mike Powers was reason in human form, and laid down more guitars like magic carpets. Because it was reasonable; guitar riff magic carpets.

Dave Putvain pulled himself from his serial collections and and taking the bass with/from Ronze, smoothed the low end with 4 more strings of bass, bass, bass.

V Mercy had(s) been seen shoegazing with the bass as well, finding harmony in its zen like droning. Another calling for him to answer.
His other half Kat Morgan made sure the chorus's were like a storm front. Impossible to ignore.


And the world danced and sang along.

Unforgettable in their energy SAIUDROM lives forever.
And not only in the hearts and minds of the musicians but out there on the street and in a basement and coming to a club near you.
