SVM - Progressive - Jazzcore band from Sardegna (Italy). SVM is a musical project that originates from the idea of recording three new songs on the occasion of "Conad Jazz Contest", a formidable springboard for performing at Umbria jazz Festival. This musical collaboration starts when Mauro involves Andrea in his projects, the two musicians had met at the Conservatory in Cagliari, while attending jazz classes. Andrea, in turn, asks Nicola, to whom is linked by a deep friendship, to join the band. The three new songs enable the band to take part and win "Umbria Jazz Festival". In 2014 SVM is the only Sardinian band to be invited to the Festival and their tracks are selected by an artistic jury headed by Renzo Arbore. After this experience, SVM release their first self-produced and self-titled album "SVM", containing seven new songs. The following year they are invited like guests, both to "Umbria Jazz Festival" and "Conad Jazz Preview" where they have the opportunity to present, though in its early stage, some of their latest tracks from the new album "ANT". The band has a big creative potential and its style is characterized by a close attention to the sounds and to the arrangements that creates a special feeling among its members that grows stronger day by day. SVM is not just a project based on standard jazz as these guys try to modernize the genre by arranging their tracks in a contemporary way.Improvisation is a very important feature of their style, that is to say the art of developing a thought and turn it into something unique. Improvisation makes them innovative and avant- garde musicians. Moreover, the fusion between groove and melody creates an explosion of sounds. SVM draw their influence mainly from the jazz tradition, but are also heavily inspired by the progressive music of the 1960’s -70's , from the mathrock of the late 90s\ early 2000s, with some disparate and dissonant hints of jazz core, from the drum and bass, and also from metal and funky music. Thanks to their skills, these talented young guys have been able to put together different musical genres and use the sound ingredients wisely, thus creating something new in each live performance. All of these characteristics have enabled the band to emerge and take part in major national and regional Festivals and to work with artists of the international jazz scene, such as the trumpeter player "Hans Peter Salentin” The new album entitled "ANT" has just been finished .Following the release, the band will be busy on tour to promote the Album. ITA SVM è un progetto musicale che prende vita dall‘idea di registrare tre brani inediti in occasione del “Conad Jazz Contest”, ovvero trampolino di lancio per poter suonare a Perugia in occasione del Festival "Umbria Jazz”. Il sodalizio musicale nasce quando Mauro decide di coinvolgere Andrea grazie alla loro precedente conoscenza al “Corso Jazz del Conservatorio di Cagliari” e quest’ultimo a sua volta, contatta Nicola perché uniti da una profondo legame di amicizia che si estende anche sul lavoro. I brani, una volta terminati, vengono presentati al contest e gli permettono di vincere e partecipare al “Festival Umbria Jazz” nel 2014. I brani vengono selezionati dalla giuria artistica composta da Renzo Arbore e son stati l’unico gruppo sardo a partecipare al festival nello stesso anno. Inoltre, dopo questa esperienza, è stato realizzato il loro primo lavoro auto prodotto dal titolo omonimo “SVM” contenente sette brani inediti. L’anno successivo vengono invitati nuovamente al “Festival Umbria Jazz” come ospiti al “Conad Jazz Preview” dove hanno la possibilità di proporre alcuni degli ultimi lavori, ancora in fase embrionale, del nuovo disco “ANT”. La creatività non manca e il loro stile si distingue grazie soprattutto alla cura dei suoni e degli arrangiamenti che dà vita a un feeling tra i musicisti che si concretizza di giorno in giorno. Il loro non è un progetto jazz basato sulla rilettura degli standard, anzi, cercano di discostarsi da quell’area e tentano di svecchiare il significato del genere arrangiando i loro pezzi in chiave contemporanea. Un aspetto importante che ritroviamo nelle loro composizioni è quello dell’improvvisazione ovvero l’arte di sviluppare un pensiero e di farlo evolvere ogni volta in qualcosa di unico è ciò che rende questi ragazzi moderni e all’avanguardia. La fusione tra il groove e la melodia crea una esplosione di suoni che difficilmente ti fa restare fermo senza muovere la testa. Le loro influenze musicali hanno chiaramente una matrice di stampo jazz ma attingono anche al progressive anni 60/70, al mathrock di fine anni 90/inizi 2000 con degli accenni anche al jazzcore più disparato e dissonante, alla drum and bass, al metal e alla funky music. Potrebbe sembrare che molti di questi generi non possano convivere tra di loro ma la capacità di questi giovani è proprio quella di usare sapientemente gli ingredienti sonori per dar vita a qualcosa di nuovo in ogni live. Queste caratteristiche li rendono così particolari tanto da riuscire a emergere e a partecipare ai più importanti festival jazz regionali e nazionali collaborando anche con artisti del panorama jazzistico internazionale come il trombettista “Hans Peter Salentin”. Il nuovo disco “ANT” è ancora in fase di mixaggio. Successivamente al release proseguirà una intensa attività di promozione concertistica e del disco.
