Raymund John "RJ" Pangilinan Villar dela Fuente hails from Rancho Cucamonga, California. RJ has been surrounded by music his entire life. Considering who he's related to, it's no wonder RJ chose to pursue music as a career. His close relatives and musical inspirations growing up include Philippine superstars Uncle Gary Valenciano, Aunt Sharon Cuneta, cousins Gab Valenciano, Paolo Valenciano of Salamin, KC Concepcion, Grandma Lerie Pangilinan, Uncle Val Pangilinan Villar, and Aunt Edna Villar Torquato, just to name a few. RJ started performing at the age of 18. He took a short break from his music career and earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Riverside. Since then, this born-again Christian has performed with numerous artists. Most notably he has opened for and performed with recording artist Brian McKnight. He has also performed with Martin Nievera, Marie Digby, Lea Salonga, Piolo Pascual, Kuh Ledesma, AJ Rafael, Cathy Nguyen, Jeremy "Passion" Manongdo, Gabe Bondoc, Andrew Carcia, Quest Crew, and the Basco Brothers. In addition to this he has also graced the stage of such venues as the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles with Aunt Sharon Cuneta and cousin KC Concepcion and the Morongo Casino & Resort in Cabazon. RJ was also awarded "Most Promising Male Performer" by Celebrity Chronicle in 2009. Most recently, RJ auditioned for American Idol Season 10 (2011) where he advanced through several rounds to sing in front of celebrity judges Jennifer Lopez, Randy Jackson, & Steven Tyler of Aerosmith. Apart from his musical endeavors, RJ also loves to play tennis, is a foodie, and enjoys spending time with friends and family. Quoting his favorite bible verse, Philippians 4:13, he believes that he "...can do all things through Christ who gives [him] strength. RJ hopes to use music as an instrument to spread the Gospel.
