Music… There’s nothing in this world that allows me to release everything I feel into it like music does. It has no judgments or expectations of me, no hidden agendas, no unrealistic visions of who I’m supposed to be. Music lets me be myself with all my flaws and accepts me regardless. I don’t have to hide anything from music - I can say anything about whatever I want. There are no boundaries or limits; music makes me feel liberated and free. My relationship with music is intimate; we are involved on a level that no one else can understand. I can share everything I feel with my music: my pain, my struggles, my triumphs, and my glory. Music is the reason I am able to be me. I’ve never been able to run to anything else when I’ve needed comfort, I can create a song when I don’t want to face the world and I can cry to music when I’m afraid to show my tears, music is my escape. I wish I could make the world feel what I feel for music. I could try to explain in so many words on how it makes me feel, or how it governs my life, but I still don’t think anyone would truly understand. That’s the beauty of music for me, that it’s individualized. No one can ever feel what I feel for music and no one will ever go where I go in my mind when I’m creating it. Every emotion inside of me is poured into my lyrics, the melodies are written with the sound of my soul, this makes every song a piece of me. My songs are the one thing I can call my own, the one thing no one can ever truly take from me. The ability to create music has a profound effect on me; I’m humbled to have the ability to do such a thing. I can’t imagine being a part of anything else; my commitment to music is one that I could never summon for another. I want to be a part of something bigger than I am, something limitless and freeing. Music will never die and it will always be the voice that leads generations. One song could change your life; one musician can change the world. Music makes me feel like I can do and be anything. It gives me that moment to be free. My music and I, that’s all there is. Everything else fades away.
