About Rebekah Pahl Music

A lyricist at heart, Rebekah has been writing songs since her early childhood years--when she would record radio shows and melodies on cassette tapes in her bedroom, and fill up journal pages with original poems. She grew up in a small East Texas town, then moved to Chicago where she attended Wheaton College and took guitar & songwriting classes at the Old Town School of Folk. After spending a few years honing in on her voice and writing style, and learning from John Defoore (who also taught Miranda Lambert and Kacey Musgraves), she had store-housed some noteworthy songs for the sharing.

Influenced by the rawness of southern storyteller Flannery O'Connor, and the music of Patty Griffin, Lori McKenna, Lissie, Bob Dylan, Sheryl Crow, Ryan Adams, Tom Petty, and Dawes--Rebekah locates herself in a stream of writers looking for a fresh and simple way to uncover the intricate layers of human experience, with a raw and honest edge. A few weeks before her wedding in 2013, she recorded her first EP in Austin, TX.

While living in the Santa Cruz mountain redwoods, Rebekah played an array of shows in the Bay Area, including Hotel Utah, opening for Haroula Rose, and playing at the Grapes of Wrath 75th Anniversary Celebration hosted by the Steinbeck Center in May 2014.

After moving to Nashville, funding a successful Kickstarter campaign, and teaming up with Grammy-nominated producer Paul Moak (Joy Williams, Mat Kearney, Caitlyn Smith, Trent Dabbs, Matthew Mayfield), her most recent EP "CANYONS" is an expression of her reflections on following an unmarked path infused with a gritty southwestern sound. While the future is uncertain, Rebekah has learned to trust the natural and steady unfolding that comes with moving forward. And if songwriting is simply an overflow of a life, then taking the time to focus on growing a meaningful one should make for some damn good songs.
