Pine Needle Miners

De Drentse veengronden zijn een uitstekende voedingsbodem voor oorspronkelijk Amerikaanse muziekstijlen. De formatie Pine Needle Miners uit Meppel speelt vrolijke bluegrass uit de zuidelijke staten van Amerika. Het zeskoppige gezelschap brengt dit alsof het in de deep south opgroeide met beef jerky, chicken fried steaks en liters moonshine. Het repertoire bevat onder andere nummers van Bill Monroe (the father of Bluegrass), Hank Williams, Flatt & Scruggs en The Stanley Brothers. De band speelde 34 shows in één jaar en verzorgde openingsacts voor namen zoals Tim Vantol en Joe Buck Yourself (USA). Het speelplezier van dit akoestische gezelschap spat eraf bij hun optredens. De Pine Needle Miners zorgden voor opschudding in verschillende café’s en waren graag geziene gasten op de festivals MadNes Ameland, Dicky Woodstock, Pedro Pico Pop, Vogelpop en Blubbertreffen. Voor 2015 staat naast braderieën, boerderijen, bikerfeesten, kunstmarkten, tattooshops, barbecues, bruiloften en festivals een niet te versmaden optreden in de Amsterdamse Melkweg op het programma. The Pine Needle Miners zijn het stralende middelpunt van elk festival of feest. De band speelt in een traditionele bluegrass-bezetting en bestaat uit Yorick (zang, mondharmonica), Gerhard (mandoline, zang), Joren (banjo, gitaar, zang), Peter (bas, zang), Poeka (viool, zang) en Evert (gitaar, zang). The six-person company delivers this as if they were brought up in the deep south on a whole lot of beef jerky, chicken fried steaks and gallons of moonshine.
