PICTURA from Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany, was founded in 2005. The band tries to create universal artworks by combining different progressive styles and moods in music with interests in literature. While shifting between melodic beauty and deathmetal-intensity, PICTURA manages to keep catchyness in elaborate songstructures. In early 2007 they recorded their first album “Expressionist” under their old name »Beltane«, with slightly different lineup. Lyrically it was inspired by literary expressionism. The album was recorded in the famous Woodhouse Studios, where bands like Tiamat, Lacuna Coil, or Borknagar recorded some of their greatest albums. “Expressionist” earned great press-responses and introduced the band to its first public attention. Shortly after the release, the actual lineup of the band consolidated, as the core members Marius Borjans, Mirko Weber and Julian Fischer found a new extremely talented bassplayer in Daniel Woyke (also: Stormrider). The band began to concentrate on new material for their upcoming concept album “The Equilibration of Minds”. To promote their upcoming full-length, the band recorded the three-track-demo “Rebirth” in 2010, which received many tip-offs and demo-of-the-month-awards in both online- and printmagazines. Limited copies of it were physically released via “Darkest Age Productions”. Because of the quantity of new material created in the songwriting-process, PICTURA decided to extend the “Equilibration”-concept over the next two albums. “Equilibration of Minds, Pt. I”, as always mixed and mastered by Dennis Koehne (Sodom, Lacuna Coil, etc.), was released digitally in june 2014. Pictura - Official Facebook
