About Pacesetters Quartet

Building on the legacy of Pacesetters founder Jim Smith, the Pacesetters Quartet presents gospel music in the same spirit of integrity, excellence, and anointing. The Pacesetters Quartet was formed in order for these talented musicians to share their love for the Lord with others and to bring encouragement to the body of Christ by sharing great gospel quartet music. This newly formed group has been blessed to have seen such a tremendous outpouring of love, support, and encouragement as they have stepped out to be obedient to God’s call.

With over twenty-five years of experience in gospel music, owner/manager Ron Higgins is a former member of the original Pacesetters, and more recently, a part of Praise Incorporated. As tenor, Ron brings a rich sound to the upper voice of the group, and also lends his skills as producer and arranger to each performance and project presented by the group.
Steve Sam's life presented for many years a dichotomy: songs or sports? . . . Singing Southern gospel music in church pleased his parents and the congregation, singing in school choir programs entertained students and the community, and singing with friends in a rock band brought fun and popularity. Sports had offered success in high school which also garnered accolades and recognition. In addition, both his music and his sports resulted in several scholarship offers - which Steve says he promptly wasted because of not recognizing God's plans for his life.

While living in Italy for a four-year stint in the Air Force and playing football again, Steve opened his eyes and his ears to God, re-dedicated his life, was re-baptized in the Adriatic Sea. With a newly-found zeal, Steve returned to the God who had never left him. Listening to Andre Crouch, Teddy Huffam, Dallas Holm, and the Goodmans and honing his own solo craft still left him feeling somewhat unfulfilled. In the late 1990s, he began to sing with the Jericho Road Quartet in Fort Worth, Texas. Singing lead with a quartet offered an opportunity to sing and to minister while also enjoying on-bus debating the merits of his beloved OU Sooners with his Longhorn friends.

Steve's quartet experience includes the Jericho Road and his group Praise Incorporated; he has now joined the Pacesetters Quartet after a hiatus from music to deal with his health. His smooth sound and happy spirit are back singing for the One who loves him best.

Devon Jones, an Oklahoma native with strong roots in Country & Christian music. Six years, 27 foster homes later, Devon was adopted by a family who provided him a home until he was able to make his own way. He credits them with a large portion of his vision and views.on life.
