About ONE ROOT reggae dub
ONE ROOT-Sunrockers was born in 2004, first under the name "Sun", from Matthias Hélin aka MattI’s passion for Reggae, with 3 friends in a Brussels cellar.
Their music swings between Roots Reggae from the seventies (The Congos, The Abyssinians, Junior Murvin, …) and Reggae Dub from the eighties (Black Uhuru, Augustus Pablo, ...).
In 2008, Jérémie Dupuy aka Jay Dub integrated the band and in 2011 they produced a first single "Holy Land". In 2012, the group won the Benelux Reggae Contest and toured on the biggest stages in Benelux, after which one of the founding members left the band to dedicate himself to his solo career.
So in 2013 they renamed themselves ONE ROOT, "Because we all come from a same single root: Africa!". On thisoccasion, the band produced the title "ThisWorld" with the participation of Jupiter Diop, Senegalese singer from the Bay Fall movement.
For the concerts, they surround themselves with musicians and friends, all from the Brussels music scene.
They are supported by Gregory Jacqmain of "Skinfama prod" (Alborosie, Groundation, Inna Di Yard, etc, ...), Johan Tackx of "Reggae Geel" to name but a few. After a series of concerts to promote the band, theypublished a 5 tracks + 2 dub version EP called "Revelation" in 2013.
Since then they’ve been essentially and intensively working on their debut album “Soldiers of Love” which was released on February 14, 2019.
