On the Run

On the Run is a five piece band comprised of Mississippi musicians. Though the band's members are scattered throughout the Delta, the group calls Greenville home. The band is structured around its original tunes, written by rhythm guitar player and songwriter, Terry Floyd. The group's original music maintains a bluesy feel with a definite element of rock. Floyd and bass player, Jason Campbell,l became partners in the local music scene in early 2008. Shortly thereafter, the two acquired the talent of singer Clint Kelly. Kelly brought along his guitar player, Lance Whitworth, who possessed phenomenal tone and a striking stage presence to join the group. Upon recognizing the need to form a complete group, Campbell, invited Jack McWilliams to hold down the backbone and complete the band. McWilliams portrays an all encompassing resume, ranging from being a former member of the Delta State Renaissance Group to performing in other local big name acts, such as the Electric Mudd. The first undertaking by the group included recording their first album, Daylight's Gone, named after the title track to the album and masterminded by Floyd. Since March 2012, the band has traveled throughout the Delta performing in various nightclubs, private venues and festivals. One of On the Run's first gigs included a noon slot in the famous Clarksdale, MS Juke Joint Festival. It was this performance that peeked the interest of Band Marketing Agent, Mary Graydon. Graydon signed on with the band as manager and marketing consultant. The band has performed at such venues as Rival's Sports Bar of Greenville, Spectators Pub of Greenville, Crawdad's of Merigold, the Blue Biscuit of Indianola, The Pickled Okra of Cleveland, and the Hard Rock Cafe in Memphis, TN.
