Offshore Riot

There’s a certain polished rawness coming from this solid Tampa Bay area Reggae-Rock trio. Albeit seasoned players and veterans of the genre for over the last decade, you can hear them call back to simpler musical times when a solid beat and bass line chugged along behind a scratchy guitar and catchy vocals. Tyson Marshall (Guitar, Vocals), Lawson White (Bass) and Mike Tzigos (Drums) have managed to carve out their own identity in a very robust community of their peers. Echoes of early Sublime, the Police, Red Hot Chili Peppers can be heard here, while Caribbean influences like reggae, dub, ska and dance-hall seamlessly meet American influences of rock, funk, blues, soul, hip hop and punk. They released their 12 track self-titled debut album in 2007. With songs like Wanton Soup, A Girl I Knew, My Simple Plan among others being constant crowd sing-a-longs. Afterwards, the band continued to play hundreds of shows in the Southeast. Taking a 2 year hiatus in 2011, Offshore Riot re-entered the studio, more ambitious than ever to start efforts on their 17 track sophomore outing, “Another Wave”. Officially released June 28th, 2014, the album sounds like the group is firing on all cylinders, cranking up those amps, and beating those drums loud enough for the whole world to hear them.
