About Navajo Joe

Navajo Joe is a hook-focused rock band from Atlanta, Georgia. The name is inspired by the 1966 spaghetti western movie starring icon Burt Reynolds. Like a movie about the American west starring Italians and filmed in Spain, the three band members have a varied music history behind them, over the years having toured regionally, held residencies at local bars, played corporate events, office parties, and charity benefits, in Atlanta as well as across the Southeast and Midwest. Joe Ciucci (drums, vocals), Dean Siewert (bass, vocals), and Jeff Siewert (guitar, bottle opener) got together in 2014 just for the joy of playing songs they have enjoyed throughout the years. Navajo Joe’s list of influences is long and broad, but together on their own new material or on favorite cover tunes, a raw, fun energy emerged. Their sound has been described as a blend of garage, Americana, 80’s college alternative, and traditional rock styles - perhaps if Hüsker Dü covered The Raspberries, Steve Earle jammed with The Foo Fighters, The Replacements sang Three Dog Night, Matthew Sweet played a Velvet Underground tribute, John Cougar performed with The dB's, or Joan Jett joined Wilco. They collaborated with award-winning Atlanta producer Mike Froedge to put out several singles and have plans to record more material with Mike at Open Sky Studios soon.
