About Mid Air Collision

Early 2005, Jan De Sorte (guitar) forms a new musical formation with old friend and rhythm guitarist Joost Smet, young drumtalent Yannick De Clerck and all-rounder Mathijs Dhoey on bass. From the get go, the foursome from Melsele begin writing and rehearsing with great motivation.

About a year later they find their vocalist in Niko Van Driessche, who's five year contribution to pop punk band Nailpin earned him recognition throughout the Belgian punkrock scene. With it's line-up finally set, 'Mid Air Collision' is founded.

April 2007: The band releases a demo called 'Better Safe Than Sorry' which contains five carefully crafted songs. They throw an awesome release party to celebrate their début in style.

In December 2007 Mid Air Collision launches their first single 'Temporary Living'. A kick ass music video is shot and released on national TV. Temporary Living receives numerous airplay and conquers a five weeks lasting number one spot in the 'Puur Belgisch' charts!

At the same time they tour Belgium's biggest media stores to promote the videogame 'Jam Sessions' by Ubisoft. This whole setup revolves around the mellow acoustic song 'Save Yourself', which can be found on the game's soundtrack.

May 2008: the band puts out it's first record. "Dead Men Tell No Tales" earns them a steady fan base and Mid Air Collision becomes a household name in the Belgian punkrock scene.

January 2009: Mid Air Collision releases a follow-up single called 'Man vs. Hero'. JIM puts the music video in high rotation and airs a behind the scenes documentary of the video shoot in their lifestyle show 'Spotlight'!

4 months of touring and extensive airplay later, the band gets a spot at Groezrock, one of Belgium's biggest alternative festivals! They share the bill with bands like NOFX, The Get Up Kids, Taking back Sunday, Rise Against, Bullet for my Valentine and many more.

July 2009: Mid Air Collision releases 'Rearrange The Past', a five-track EP with songs of epic proportions! It's sold out in a matter of weeks.

February 2010: After five dedicated years, Yannick leaves the band in pursuit of new endeavors. In the following summer, Mid Air Collision returns with a new line-up! Former Next Week Friday singer Bart Vriesacker joins the ranks on bass & backing vocals, while bass player Mathijs switches to the drums.

Early 2011 they join Until Broadway and Vienna in The Golden Drop Tour. Great shows and good times follow.

March 2012: Mid Air Collision is back with a new record. 'Faster Than The Others' is a steady balance between big guitars and classical songwriting. The band sounds more authentic than ever and proves that they're here to stay!
