About Mercies

Mercies formed in 2009 as a creative outlet for Josh Rheault and Sammy Dent. After casually exchanging demos the collaboration turned into a serious musical partnership, and Josh and his family began restoring an old tobacco barn in rural Connecticut, giving the band a dedicated space for writing and recording. From that new space Mercies’ crafted their debut LP Three Thousand Days. Their next project The Ballet EP, was collaboration with The Charlottesville Ballet. Mercies then took to the road, touring the U.S. extensively and making multiple trips to festivals such as CMJ and SXSW. With their sights set on moving to Los Angeles, they made a final recording in The Barn, the two song single Barely Speak/Vultures. Mercies relocated to Los Angeles in 2013 and shortly thereafter signed to Randm Records. Working with producer Mike Butler at Lost Ark Studio in San Diego, Mercies further explored their love of vintage gear and natural space while tapping into Butler’s adventurous approach to recording. Their sophomore LP, "Blue Against Green", is the culmination of the band’s life experiences, both professional and personal, their move to the west coast and the subsequent life changes. The desire to venture out into the unknown and the will to keep moving forward, are all present on Blue Against Green, released on March 31, 2105.
