About Matt Longo

Thin Lear is the baroque/psych-pop project of the Queens-based, painfully self-involved songwriter Matt Longo, who, after pleading with several other like-minded musicians, formed the group in 2015 when his songs took a lyrical turn for the surreal. The group then spent six months crafting the self-titled EP on a tape machine in Astoria, very often nearly murdering one another in fits of EQ-obsessed passion. With its lush arrangements and woozy orchestration evoking the ornate psychedelia of Village Green-era Kinks and The Pretty Things, the EP drifts through six disarmingly frank tales of city living, with subway panic attacks, mortifying social encounters, and crippling nostalgia, heard most vividly in the group’s first single, “Second Nature,” accompanied by its Jim Henson-inspired, puppet-featuring video. Known for their high-energy live performances, in which the group regularly engages in humiliating, tear-filled confrontations of both the audience and each other, Thin Lear is looking to make their mark in 2016! Catch the fever! Baeble Music says: “This is one of the first can't miss records of 2016. Overflowing with strings and classical instrumentation, Thin Lear is a rich evocation of 1960s pastoral rock with a decidedly contemporary and political bent to its storytelling.” Deliriously Charming Pop Band
