Massaya

Since 2003, the reggae & dancehall sound system Massaya could establish themselves as one of Hamburgs top-a-top sounds. When one talks about style and quality in musical selections, nobody can go around Massaya who are spreading good vibes in dancehalls all across Europe. The two brothers Trappa & Semik founded Massaya together with Roman and Pruzza in August 2003 to share their love for Jamaican Music with as many people as possible. 2004 Till joined the sound, replacing Pruzza who went on to become a successful Electro DJ. By the end of 2008 Massaya was reinforced by Smart, enriching Massaya with his 16 years of experience as a Selecta. In 2014 Dre joined the Sound as a MC and Selekta. Massaya means good entertainment. Without a doubt, the sound always tries to live up to it's motto: "Satisfaction Guaranteed" - which also is the Name of the famous Mix-CD Series by Semik. Massaya plays a nice blend of different musical styles which are all related to Jamaican music culture. From Mento, Ska and Rock Steady via Roots Reggae and Rub A Dub straight to the current Dancehall - Massaya knows how to satisfy their fans with well known classics, brand new pre-releases and musical scorchers. Being one of Germany's top-a-top juggling sounds Massaya travels a lot, nicing up dancehalls in every city, sometimes together with their singer friend Spruddy One, who is a proven soundsystem entertainer. In 2005, Massaya won the famous "Hamburg 45-Clash". In 2006, Massaya was voted by the readers of the "Riddim" magazine as one of the Top 5 German soundsystems. In 2009, Massaya became the first continental European dancehall sound winning a soundclash in Great Britain - the "Bring your tunes and defend your sound - Euro Edition" clash in London. Since 2003, Semik keeps putting out the mixtape series "Satisfaction Guaranteed", which is still available on the website of the soundsystem. The sound also releases further mixes from time to time: most notably their 2011 mix-cd "Keep On Walking" was voted into the Top 5 mixes of 2011 by the readers of Riddim magazine. Since 2011, Massaya also hosts a monthly Radio Show called "Ahoy! Massaya's Reggae Rampage" on Raggakings.net which is well received by listeners all over Germany. Starting 2006, Massaya promotes the prestigious club "Destination: Kingston" with guest appearances by Ranking Joe (NY, USA), Lloyd Brown (London, UK), Nosliw (Berlin), Ginjah (Kingston , JA), Welton Irie (Kingston, JA), Spruddy One (Hamburg, Germany), Black Scorpio (Kingston, JA), Soundquake (Detmold, Germany), Soul Stereo (Paris, FR), Heartical (Paris, FR), X-TA-C 4x4 (Birmingham, UK) and many, many more.
