Mandy Jones is a vocalist, musician, music producer, and songwriter from Minneapolis, USA known for her breathtaking tone, versatility, and dynamic, powerful voice. Sought after across genres for her characteristic soulful sound born from firm roots in jazz, hip-hop, and R&B, Mandy’s label releases and appearances include Insomniac Records, JOOF Recordings, FSOE, Bonzai Progressive, Midnight Coast, and Artist Intelligence Agency (EDM.com). In 2016, Mandy released her highly-acclaimed vocal sample pack Mandy Jones Vocal Essentials through premier soundware label Freshly Squeezed Samples, and co-founded ProducerSpace.com, co-creating 18 popular vocal sample and MIDI packs that have been heard in chart-topping tracks and popular radio mixes like Group Therapy. In 2017 Mandy founded Looplicious, a premium sample provider of unique and high-quality sound ware and services for electronic music producers, releasing a variety of organic vocal and live instrument loops to enthusiastic support by the likes of Armin van Buuren. As a musician, Mandy has performed internationally and shared the stage with Grammy award-winning artists. She got her start in music at the age of 10 when she picked up the saxophone, inspired by her mother who also played saxophone in her youth. Mandy would go on to study classical musicianship, jazz, and world music throughout her education and career, but was first schooled by soul, funk, hip-hop, and R&B, growing up in one of the soul music capitols of the world–Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. The 80s new wave and synthpop that was playing on the radio at the time, as well as emerging 90s-00s pop music, house, UK garage, electronica, and trip-hop would further influence her musical landscape. Mandy began producing music in 2004, and continued professional training on saxophone, eventually picking up flute, clarinet, and piano. With a wide range of skills, she was able to gain unique performance experiences, from symphony orchestras, choirs, operas, and musicals, to Flamenco, Cuban, jazz, and reggae bands. Mandy graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 2008 from the esteemed Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, focusing on jazz performance and composition, with forays into film and electronic music. During an interim career as a cruise ship musician that took her to over 50 countries between 2010 and 2014, Mandy began singing professionally. Exploring the world by day and performing for large audiences and high-profile clients by night, she further developed what was a dormant talent into her primary passion. In 2012 she began writing vocal music, picking up guitar, expanding her skills in music production, and gained further influences in indie R&B, future garage, bass music, nu disco, trap, and downtempo. Since then, Mandy has written and recorded volumes of songs, melodies, horn lines, and vocal top lines, some of which can be heard on the aforementioned labels, including collaborations in progressive house, deep house, techno, and trance that have all contributed to her development into an in-demand electronic dance music vocalist with a one-of-a-kind skillset and distinctively timeless sound.
