Maiwah is a project that came together between Vancouver musicians with common goals in writing and performing alternative pop music. The group consists of members from the indie rock band Facts, and is fronted by local singer/songwriter Kristie McCracken. Their music is a blend of traditional songwriting rooted in soul and R&B, combined with elements of modern electronic music. Their debut album "In Amongst the Ferns" was recorded in various studios and bedrooms in Vancouver and was self-produced by the band. The music has similar soundscapes with artists like Little Dragon, Beach House, The XX, and James Blake.
