MAGIC JOVE

The band started out in a dark and cold winter evening in 2013, after guitarist and singer Filiph Englund had moved to Malmö and met drummer Tim Wallander at a local blues jam. After playing a few Hendrix-tunes together they decided to take things further and met up the following day a Tim’s rehearsal place do play some more together. Tim brought his former band-companion and bass player Bruno Oberdoerfer. In a few weeks the band, originally named Jupiter, had gotten a couple of songs together and after doing a couple of local gigs, they went in to the studio to record their debut EP ”In The Fields”. The EP was released on Ozium Record and at the same time Jupiter changed the band name to Magic Jove (as a result of way too many google hits of space pictures).

The following year the band played shows throughout Sweden, Denmark and Norway and teamed up with bands such as Limestone Whale, Spiders, Abramis Brama, Sonic Dawn and Blues Pills, including a tour in Sweden and Denmark. During this time the band kept writing new songs and in Dec-15 they entered into Studio Möllan in Malmö to record their second EP ”Sonic Understanding”, which was released through their own label Spacewalk Records and pressed on 10” vinyl.

With new inspiration and fresh blood behind the drums in Oskar Melander, Magic Jove is currently working on a full length album and a release is planned sometime during 2017.
