MOTv aren’t waiting for their big break—they’re making it happen. The newly collaborated duo, comprised of Shawn Humphreys, better known as Shawn Castro, and Mateo Raigosa, who goes by Mateo P.i, has been gaining attention exponentially since their official decision to join forces in February. Months after joining forces together, MOTv have shared the stage with some of the top artists in the world and performed at one of the biggest event in the USA. Having smashed elated audiences as the official openers for artists such as Dada Life, Moska and Swanky Tunes, MOTv have established their selves as a dominant presence in the booth. If nothing else, their performances consistently remind one that their understanding of dance music and the crowds pressure points is equal to that of any man they share the stage with, whether it’s playing at Life in Color Miami alongside Calvin Harris, Chuckie and Aoki, or headlining their own show in Puerto Rico. Natives to one of the top music cities in the world, Miami’s Shawn Castro and Mateo P.i have produced and performed music that has been warmly welcomed, widely respected and is quickly gaining support and recognition from local and internationally known artists. Shawn Castro took his passion for music into his own hands and began to DJ and produce at 17. Within months he could be found working the Terrace at the mecca of electronic dance music in Miami–club Space. Four years later, now based in Gainesville, Florida, 21-year-old Castro has earned himself a well-respected name in local and international music scenes, not only holding a spot as resident DJ for Gainesville’s top promotional company, but also having worked alongside Krewella, Thomas Gold, Sander van Doorn, R3hab, Pierce Fulton, Porter Robinson, Zedd, Excision, GTA, Gareth Emery and Flux Pavilion. Mateo P.i has an ear for music. Before moving to Miami in 2009, Mateo learned to master the drums and keyboard and began venturing into producing. He attended SAE Institute of Miami for audio engineering where he studied electronic music production, improving his innate talent on a technical level, and since has been increasingly gaining attention from artists such as GTA and Klaud. Between his inherent talent and his expert education, Mateo brings forth precision and ingenuity to the team’s tracks. Shawn Castro’s intuitive talent matched with Mateo P.i’s expert ear have proven to be a success. Together they are mentored by and work with artists such as GTA, Darmon, Karim Mika Henrix and Klaud, have received support from Thomas Gold, Dzeko & Torres, GTA, Danny Avila, Max Vangeli, Henry Fong, Matisse and Sadko and many more. Music is in their soul and tempo in their blood. Not only does the couple’s musical chemistry lie in harmony, but equally as important, the two share comparable ambition and work ethic; both are eager to make their spot in the EDM community permanent.
