About Lucinda Belle

Pop-noir singer-songwriter and harpist Lucinda Belle has strutted through the traditional notions of the harp as a classical or orchestral instrument. In her path, she’s paved the way for a signature artistry that melds the white-gloved elegance of classic Hollywood with smart hooks and playful pan-genre appropriation. “The girl with the harp is who I am,” affirms Lucinda Belle. “I want to present a different perspective of what can be done with the instrument.”

Lucinda’s music is a portal into a seductive and anachronistic world where jazz, soul, gypsy jazz, blues, and reggae merge into her unique sound. You’ll find referential signposts as diverse as Peggy Lee, Louis Prima, Verdi, Jobim, and the Great American Songbook.

Her latest work, the Urban Lullabies EP, is a compilation of covers that create a seductive and anachronistic world where classical and rock collide and reside. The EP features re-imaginings of classics by Nirvana, T.I., John Mayer, and Paolo Nutini.

Because of her sage artistic instincts, empathy, boundless musicality, and attention to her authentic craft, Lucinda has been able to work with a broad array of iconic musicians throughout her career. A select cross section of her studio and stage collaborations includes Annie Lennox, The Pet Shop Boys, Robbie Williams, Jarvis Cocker, Richard Ashcroft, Lisa Stansfield, Natalie Cole, Rufus Wainwright, Yes, Seal, Jamiroquai (a track later sampled by Missy Elliott), Grace Jones, Raphael Saadiq, and sessions with producers Mark Batson (Beyonce), Jay Electronica featuring Jay Z and Charlotte Gainsbourg, and The Bullits (director/producer of film and film music from They Die By Dawn).

Her attention to her craft has led to opportunities and awards based on her merit, and an authentic connection to all she does, including an Oscar nomination in 2015 for Best Song with “Going Nowhere” in the film For No Good Reason (Johnny Depp) and a year’s contract performing with Punch Drunk’s The Drowned Man as Dixie Darling.

Lucinda will be releasing her new album Think Big: Like Me this year.
