Los Petardos!

Los Petardos! were conceived in late 2009 somewhere in the little town of Moca, Puerto Rico. What started as a simple game between friends, looking for a good time while late-night drinking and partying, quickly turned into a musical journey as well as a cultural discovery trip. Macoyo, leader of the group, tells us “We weren’t looking for musical styles to play, we just found our identity in a natural way by going back to our roots and discovering our cultural past through music. Surprisingly, we found absolute freedom in the process.” The result is a distinct garage alternative sound with hints of surf rock. Fast, slinging guitars and contagious beats make Los Petardos! one of the most important live acts in Puerto Rico today. Los Petardos is s a direct representation of the modern day Jíbaro. /// Los Petardos! comenzaron en 2009 en el pequeño pueblo de Moca, Puerto Rico. Lo que comenzó como un juego entre compañeros y músicos reunidos en el fin común de agarrar una borrachera, terminó en un proceso de redescubrimiento musical y cultural. El tomar un instrumento y dejarse llevar, buscando lo que somos y no lo que creemos ser. Somos ciudadanos del mundo con un pasado musical que huele a campo y playa, a isla. Así nace el “Rocanrol con gandules”: el reflejo del jíbaro moderno. El resultado es un sonido rock de garage alternativo, con toques de surf rock.
