About Landmine Spring

There are 2 Landmine Springs -
1) The 2 albums uploaded here belong to the english Landmine Spring -

"The band started out in 1999, as four freinds that got together to make some music that was interesting and different to the Brighton scene, the original members were Darren Toms (now in The Hurt Process), Rob Newson, Marcus Richardson and Nev Taylor. They rehearsed and played a few gigs to a welcoming response, and so decided to self finance and record an E.P. called "Trepanning", this was done at Henly on Thames with the well known UK producer Dave Chang (understudy to Andy Sneap). Whilst this was being recorded a guy came down from Casket Records and was impressed with what he heard, and offered the band a distribution deal, along with some help getting on tours with the likes of Earthtone9, Tribute to Nothing and Snub to name but a few!

Then after gigging and rehearsing in 2000/01 the band went back to Henley On Thames and recorded their debut full length album once again with Dave Chang, the album called "Elephantine" was released later in 2001 to much acclaim and received raving reveiws up and down the globe.

With the album released the band set apon touring with bands such as Raging Speedhorn, Pist On, Mastodon, Downset etc, and this finally culminated with them being asked to do a four song session for the widely acclaimed Radio 1 Rock Show.

Then once again the band found themselves approaching the writing stage.......and disaster struck, in the form of Darren Toms leaving the band. After a spate of doing nothing for six months whilst trying to find a replacement, they came across a guy named James Burt (formerly of the band Matter), and instantly gelled and began writting material. This went on for six months and then the band once more went back to Henley to record album number 2 with Dave Chang once again producing. The album was recorded and mixed, and the final product was released in 2003 with the title "Are We The Culprits?", and showed a much more mature and experienced line up of writing, again receiving great reviews from press around the globe. Then after much touring with Clutch, Candiria, Taproot, Dillinger Escape Plan Etc, the label folded and internal rangles began to take hold of the band.........until they finally decided to split in late 2004"

2)Landmine Spring was formed in Strakonice/south part of the Czech Republic early in 1995. It was in 1996 in their home town they played their first show together with Lumen. After a couple of years of rehearsing and playing some local shows they recorded their first CDep called "Do you answer me" (Samuel records 1998). Then played a lot of shows all over the country and did not take long to come up with the second album "Ride" (Samuel records September 1999). In the release date they played an unforgettable show with Fugazi (USA) and Something Like Elvis (Poland) at Lucerna Music Bar in Prague and toured all over the Czech republic and Germany afterwards. In 2000 recorded album called "Your World", this time on a respected indie label Day After records. The release party took place at Dynamo in Zurich (Switzerland) where they played with Elliott/US. With this album they toured in Czech rep., Germany, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, Croatia, Poland and Slovakia.

The next two years meant for the band a lot of touring and festivals (including two live unplugged shows) both abroad and in Czech. Either as a headliner or a support they shared stage with many great bands such as 90 Man Day, Fugazi, Elliott, Snapcase, Leatherface, Avail, Arab on Radar, Boy Sets Fire, Braid, Serpico, The Get up Kids, Shelter, I Farm etc. In February 2003 "Sip of wine" came out (Day After records+Lovitt records from USA). Their indie-rock is on this album enriched with the second drummer Tomas Vokurka and must say, it really rocks! The release party took place at 007 Club in Prague at the beginning of 2003 where they shared the stage with another brilliant band The Robocop Kraus. With this band they hit the road again and did a few shows in Germany and Czech Republic. Before setting out for the Sip of wine European tour their second guitarist left the band for Sunshine and moved to the USA. He was replaced by a new guitarist who just came back from UK with whom they already went on the European tour. After coming back from Europe they had a few gigs in Germany and Czech rep. and we could see them as the support to Sense Field (USA) at Prague's Rock Cafe.

In March 2004 they went to Germany for a 7-day-tour and played some gigs in Germany and the Czech Republic. Most of the summertime was spent in their rehearsing room making new songs for the upcoming album and limited picture 7" vinyl EP. You could see Austin Lucas - American singer/songwriter at some of their shows who was invited to play with them a few gigs. He also recorded back vocals to their new album Love With Silver Spears!!!

In May 2004 they played together with Nine Days Wonder from Japan in Prague and then went on mini tour through Austria with The Feelers from New Zealand. The new limited picture EP came out in February 2005 (Engineer rec. (UK), W.I.F.A.G.E.N.A rec. (Germany), Pohoda rec. and Samuel (both Czech Republic). And finally in April 2005 their best album so far "Love With Silver Spears" is out now on Day After records, check it out!!! (from their official web)
