About L'anarchiste

"The music of Salt Lake City's L'anarchiste gives us these sensations that could be read as awakenings - making us understand what it means to be here now. It's about the stream that we have forgotten we can hear rushing from our backyard. When attention is paid to it, its volume cuts to us like the healthy call of a locomotive searing through a crossing. Lead singer and songwriter Rob LeCheminant creates these lush landscapes that suggest that we're elsewhere and we shouldn't be. He writes what can easily be heard as naturalistic songs of regrowth and blossoming - recognizing the dirt and the water, the grass and the sky and thinking about what it means to be turned loose in that context. It's about finding that we're in way over our heads, but then discovering that we can breath underwater, through fire and without so much as knowing the difference, if we just let go and sink." - Sean Moeller, Daytrotter ------------------------------------------------------------- "This is one of those bands that makes you drop whatever else you're doing (in my case taking notes and pretending to be a music writer) and just watch in awe. The lead man, Mr. Rob LeCheminant, is one of the more appealing musicians I have ever witnessed. He pours everything into his craft, without being over the top. His soul is on display in his songs—his actions and everyone in attendance is all the better for that." -SLUG Magazine "Not sure how to describe the new EP from Salt Lake City's L'anarchiste so I guess I'd go with glorious, sentimental tour de force which impresses with haunting, almost orchestral melancholia and soaring but tender, beautiful vocals. Honestly, it's beyond amazing. Without a doubt this is one of the best folk records you'd hear this year, and I love it." -Against the Odds "I think the best way to describe this band is “effortful minimalism” -- sounds like an oxymoron, right? Well, it takes a lot to show self restraint. Think of Phillip Glass if he were a 20-something indie rocker. OK, that might be a stretch. But L’anarchiste takes cues from Sufjan Stevens as far as incorporating distinct tones, while also reminiscent of Bon Iver and Local Natives -- and, to a lesser degree, Arcade Fire - -with their use of counter melodies and interesting phrasings that come in and out like waves. This can be an articulation that requires the span of seven minutes of song, something that not a lot of bands would dare to do." - Salt Lake City Weekly Twitter & Instagram: @Lanarchisteband Bandcamp: http://lanarchiste.bandcamp.com
