About Jimmy Blythe and The Midnight Run Band

Jimmy Blythe, singer for Jimmy Blythe and the Midnight Run, is a born and raised Oklahoma country boy from Bixby, Oklahoma and started singing and performing for crowds when he was just five years old. Singing for family and friends on top of pizza restaurant tables and performing to an imaginary crowd in his bedroom, he just wanted to be on stage. Little did he know then, where he would be today. His inspirations as a kid included Randy Travis, Dwight Yoakam, George Strait, and Garth Brooks. He got the feel of strumming a guitar as his dad sat on the tailgate and let him strum the strings while his dad held the chords. The spark lit in his eyes and from there on, he knew he was born to play, sing, and perform. Jimmy got into the bar music scene just three years ago, and has gained the love and respect from hundreds and hundreds of fans all over Northeastern Oklahoma. Word got around after a few of his first shows and it has blown up ALL over the Northeastern, and some regional areas. He wows the crowds with his amazing country voice, great guitar playing, deep song writing, and funny, cheery personality. He has been nominated in The Urban Tulsa Weekly for the Absolute Best of Tulsa Music Awards for Country Artist of the Year, and Newcomer Artist of the Year for 2011, and Country Artist, Male Vocalist, Red Dirt, and Live Performance for 2012, and hopefully 2013! His biggest dream is to play music for a living and be someone else’s role model, like Randy, Dwight, George, and Garth were to him. Rob Simpson was born in Denton, Texas and raised mostly in the panhandle of oklahoma and is a self taught drummer. He started learning music at the age of eight years old and put his heart into it in hopes to one day play in a country band. At the young age of fourteen he was the practice drummer for his dads band for nearly two years, and shortly after his dad told him he was good enough to be his drummer,so he played in the band with his dad on and off of the road for fifteen years straight. His dad was his inspiration, along with artists from the 50's, 60's, 70's. Basically anything out on the top 40 charts. His dad was old school and mainly just wanted to do classic rock and country of old and hardly nothing in the top charts at the time, so he then decided it was time to make a change and spread his wings. He moved to Okmulgee, Oklahoma, which in no time at all, he was hired in a band and it took off. After a good ten year run with pretty much the same players, and meeting alot of others in the process, he built a reputation around the Tulsa, Oklahoma and surrounding areas. He played in a couple of different bands, then took some time off. A year and a half later he was called out of the blue to be a stand in drummer for a busy band and ended up earning the job as that bands permanent drummer for over two years. It was time to make another change, so he then got in touch with a great singer, young and hungry, Jimmy Blythe, and after a long wait, they finally got it together to build a band that hits Tulsa, Oklahoma and surrounding venues, even across state lines. Rob, Jimmy, and Glen voted the name to be Jimmy Blythe and The Midnight Run Band. Rob says, "as long as these young guys can put up with the old man, he has a home and three of the best guys to share it with." David Diehl was born in Sapulpa, Oklahoma in February 1976. Around the age of 7, his grandfather, Dempsey Lister, started teaching him chords on the acoustic guitar and almost immediately put him in a chair next to him on stage at church... In sixth Grade Dave picked up the bass guitar that his mother played in church, and was instantly hooked, and spent the next several years jamming around with friends and family, and a few local rock bands. In 2006 David joined the Nick Gibson band. since then he has had the pleasure of playing such venues as The Ford Center, OKC Zoo amphitheater, The Catillion, The Tumbleweed, Power and Lights,The Sprint Center, and many more as well as honky tonks and casinos all around. He has been fortunate enough to open shows for such folks as Kenny Chesney, Leann Rimes, Gary Allen, Eric Church, Dierks Bentley, Miranda Lambert, Lady Antebellum, Eli Young band, James Otto, Lee Brice, Randy Houser, Stoney LaRue, Jason Boland, and more. David has also played many shows as a fill in that include the likes of Jeremy Essary, Jason Stringfellow, Kinsey Sadler, Bryce Dicus, Cactus Jones, and many more. You can still Find David today, playing alongside Nick Gibson or with the smoking country band, Jimmy Blythe and The Midnight Run Band.
