About Jamuel Saxon

some nice words from 944 magazine's 2011 music issue: Jamuel Saxon Keith Milgaten was busy enough between The Vision of a Dying World, Black Mamba and producing other local bands, but programming beats on his computer has always come naturally. Adderall benders, salvia trips and Castlevania conquests led to what started as a side project. “I played my first solo show in 2007 at Scolari’s, and afterwards some guy told me it was karaoke,” recalls Milgaten. “This is such a punk rock town, but I just want to be a bright, loud, flamboyant distraction from the depressing things in life.” Few other local musicians were playing electronic music four years ago. Milgaten toyed with various line-ups and forms of live instrumentation before releasing his debut album in 2007. Jamuel Saxon’s prolific catalog includes several EPs and a Tape Deck Mountain remix record. Milgaten’s sophomore LP Landmines & Chandeliers received rave reviews, earning him his second straight Best Electronic nomination at the 2010 San Diego Music Awards. Playing duel synthesizers and singing through a vocoder while rocking black light body paint, Milgaten is a performance artist/cosmic conquistador. Drummer Jayson Ehm is a human metronome who also contributes trippy visual effects, which makes for a multi-sensory experience. It’s four to the floor for hipster potheads. Jamuel Saxon has opened for Mix Master Mike of Beastie Boys, Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr and The Album Leaf. Milgaten recorded last fall at Jimmy LaValle’s new house in Santa Cruz, sessions that will soon amount to Jamuel’s third LP once Rafter Roberts works his mastering magic. A tour with Drew Andrews is also imminent. Vengeance will soon be had. myspace.com/jamuelsaxon Pre-Madonna
