Jai Moi

If you ask jai Moi why she continues to pursue a music career and not just settle for a life of routine where everything is black and white, to her it's a no brainer. She will simply say, I was born to sing. I love to sing. I sing well. And I can't envision a life without the wonderful colors where music plays the leading role in my life. Asking a singer to sit behind a desk all day and not even hum in utter silence, is like telling a two year old child not to play. It's painful and it definitely won't last long. And after sitting behind a desk for many years, jai decided enough was enough and began pursuing her career in music and film on a full-time basis. The decision was scary but "living a lie" was no longer an option for her. She had to fully live by two of her favorite motto's: live without regret and walk in faith, not by sight. So for the past two years, that is exactly what she has been doing. A country girl, loving music was one of her very first memories. Young jai would sing on her steps to crop fields, her dolls, and her drawings. At the age of four when asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she first and foremost responded, "a singer." She knew her destiny from the beginning and time would prove her right. Inspired by artists like Kenneth "babyface" Edmonds and Anita Baker, love and romance were always at the forefront of her writings. The yearnings of love appealed to her and she began writing poetry and songs about love at an early age. She began merging her poetry into songs because it was unbearable for her to share her poetry: For me, poetry is too personal. Speaking the words alone is too intimate for me. But when I sing them, I am able to express how I feel without having to say them. It’s like telling someone for the first time “I love you.” You’re nervous, sweaty palms and the whole nine… But singing them…yea…that’s how I am comfortable sharing those feelings. …whether it’s lovey-dovey feelings or the dark, painful ones. As a multi-threat artist that embraces her uniqueness, jai is learning the bass, takes music theory/history classes, directs, writes, and shoots short films. She has several film projects in various stages of development at this time. Her CD, “Vocally Yours” is a favorite amongst listeners internationally. jai is currently working on a full CD project and will be releasing a new single 'Alright' that will be released in the near future. According to her it's some of her best work and is very progressive. With a skill set that encompasses the arts of music, photography, film, and modeling, jai continues to perfect her craft. The spirit of young jai lives on in jai Moi as she reaches for a bigger stage literally and figuratively.
