About J Rosevelt

A self-made singer, rapper, songwriter, producer and engineer, J Rosevelt aka Danny Divebar emerged from North Carolina where his relentless effort to get his music heard lead to an undeniable buzz and a groundswell of loyal fans. Impressive sales and streaming data quickly followed. Independently, Rosevelt released nine projects (albums and mixtapes) that sold over 40,000 units and thousands of downloads. His music has been streamed over 4 million times across digital streaming services, and his YouTube views have surpassed 600,000. Guest features on his projects have included Bubba Sparxxx, Colt Ford, Redneck Souljers and I4NI. From R& B, Soul and Jazz to Blues and Country, Rosevelt developed an early appreciation for a variety of different musical styles and sounds. As a child, Rosevelt was surrounded by the music of Whitney Houston, Aaron Neville, Luther Vandross, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong and Miles Davis. His grandmother also exposed him to the likes of Patsy Cline, The Mighty Clouds of Joy and Glen Miller Orchestra. At age eight, Rosevelt began writing and recording music in his bedroom using a tape decked boombox, an old hand-me- down Alesis SR-16 drum machine and a microphone plugged into headphone jack. It was through this process, that he taught himself how to produce and record complete songs, and by 14, he had amassed a closet full of shoeboxes filled with recorded music on cassette tapes. What started as just a hobby quickly grew into his passion. Motivated to pursue music from the early positive reaction he received from his peers, Rosevelt’s talent was recognized in high school where he consistently notched first place in dozens of talent shows. He was even dubbed most likely to be the “Next King of Pop” by his classmates his senior year. Rosevelt’s 2008, album, Infinity 3k8, fused Electronic Hip-Hop, Southern Rap and Alternative Rock and provided a commercialized introspective look into the frivolous party life Rosevelt frequently exhibited. It was followed by the North Carolina statewide smash anthem, “Pour It Up,” in 2011 which garnered major media attention on both FM radio and cable TV stations and received hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube. That same year, the buzz of “Pour It Up” caught the ear of legendary Hip-Hop DJ, Don Cannon. Together, Rosevelt and Cannon recorded, Thank Me Now; an album-like mixtape that voiced his frustrations of not being signed to a record label, while paying homage to Drake (Rosevelt’s favorite artist to whom he was frequently compared). “Southern Fried Style,” Rosevelt’s 2013 breakthrough album, was a fusion of Hip-Hop, Country, Rock & Soul. Although Rosevelt had created;Country-Rap; songs as early as 2005, this was the first time he produced a body of work largely encompassed by this sub-genre. It was in 2014 that Rosevelt signed with Average Joes Entertainment as he believed AJE "truly helped manifest my creative visions without compromising my art.” That same year, he was featured on Country Boes which was included on the fifth installation of the label’s top-selling compilation series, Mud Digger. In 2016, Rosevelt and Colt Ford, Average Joes’ flagship artist, founder and Country-Rap pioneer, teamed up to release "Swampy. He was also featured on "How We Roll", a record released by I4NI that also featured Moonshine Bandits, The Lacs, Bubba Sparxxx, Redneck Souljers and Demun Jones. In May of 2017, J Rosevelt released edgy break-through single called, "Wolves".
