About Isis

Years after growing up on a steady stream of dance music, Isis
Kuaygarond still remembers diaper-clad romps during sound check at her father's former club “La Fiesta” in Thailand. It was around that dance floor that, as a child, she inadvertently discovered the sounds of Inner City, Cybotron and Tangerine Dream amongst others. It was there that the cornerstones were laid for a life fully immersed in the fantasyland we call club culture.

Later on, life would lead the Spanish-Thai artist back to her mother's native Europe as she discovered her first forays onto the stage via physical performance. A short stint in Madrid led, inevitably, to Ibiza. And after formative years on the stage dancing at some of the island's trademark clubs (like DC10, Space and HEART)
and an interim release on Shaddock Records in 2009, Isis hung up her platforms for good and took to the studio—where her heart had been all along.

The decision coincided with a relocation to Berlin, city of endless dark evenings, perfect for drawn-out studio sessions alongside her tiny sidekick Rambo, the chihuahua. Far from the familiar shores of her earliest years, the German capital witnessed her rekindle her love for music. More specifically, that of her own making
—classic beats driven by her favoured 808, with clear harkenings to the sounds of the eighties and nineties. Perhaps a throwback to the over-the-top aesthetics of her years as an entertainer, its these vintage nuances, coupled with the occasional acoustic accent like violins or piano, that have come to define Isis' recent style. With a decidedly physical understanding of what makes a dance tune, her approach seems to be a visceral one—in which she puts a bit of herself into every song and is determined to have as good a time making it as she'd like others to have while taking the time to listen.

2017 saw Isis finding her groove in-studio and making a series of cameos and international debuts alongside husband Mathew Jonson—with whom she runs the Freedom Engine imprint—as their joint project, Mr. & Mrs. Jonson. Hours have been logged and the groundwork as been laid for 2018's onslaught of exciting news. Namely, a debut double single "Family Matters" divided in two parts: Two Faces and Through the Night, on Shaddock Records, featuring remixes by Nathan Jonson and Mathew Jonson; a special release of the cover "Betrayal"—a 90's-era Miami banger; wrapping up her first solo EP as Isis and a first album as Mr. & Mrs. Jonson. The coming year is set to bring even more collaboration, audiovisual projects and sonic exploration accompanied by both her partner and, of course, Rambo.
