About Homemade Wine the Band

The band Homemade Wine hails from Knoxville, Tennessee, but East Tennesseans rarely get to see the band because of their hectic tour schedule of close to 250 shows per year. This 3 piece group has carried their funk, grit, spit and no-shit style of performing all over the country, and then some. The Hard-Driving trio provides an Alt-Country sound that merges both the past and present Blues-Infected Southern Rock and Americana sounds into a rousing modern-day performance fueled by infectious guitar and bass licks and a swaggering beat that is impossible to describe without using words like “mojo”, “chops”, “cluster-pluck ” or “twang-bangers.” The band has covered the Midwest from Wisconsin to North Dakota and has made regular appearances hroughout the south and northeast including Nashville, Asheville, Key West, Miami, Philly, Boston, and even across the Caribbean to San Juan, Grand Turk Island and Aruba. Lead singer /songwriter and guitarist Andy Westcott comes from a strong Blues and Alt-Country background where band member and master bassist Rick Reese provides strong musical influences from both his road-warrior years and technical training at the Berklee College of Music. Rounding out the group is Chris Compton, a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist (drums, gui tar, trumpet and keyboards) who has toured all over the US and in Jamaica, Australia, and India.. The inside of the band’s tour bus sports a sign that says “ No Wagon Wheel, Voodoo Child or Walk in the Dog ” which warns their fans and new listeners that Homemade Wine is all about fresh, new, creative music and not interested in covering the tracks of the Nashville Cookie-Cutter sounds that are clogging up the musical airways today. One of the next stops for the band includes the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee where Homemade Wine will take to the Miller Lite Stage at 8:30PM on Friday, June 12th.
