High Priority

Alex Cameron (first lead vocals for High Priority) had been in contact with an old friend (Yegor Whitlie (aka. The Bassist) there was talk amongst them about a band forming. Alex then approached his friend (Mark Hennys) who played drums who he had met via Craigmount High School, this seemed like a good opportunity for him. Alex also had a good friend (Craig Grassie) who played guitar, and he was willing to join due to other bands not starting off for him. So the 4-piece band met up in late March of 2011 in a well know Coffee Co ‘Starbucks’ and ‘High Priority’ was the agreed name suggested by Mark Hennys. It was decided they would do covers but also work on original material too. The covers picked were ‘Pop’ and various well known songs. As a band they veered more towards the Pop genre covering bands such Jason Mraz and Paolo Nutini etc. In April 2011, a month after several rehearsals and musical differences, Alex Cameron and Craig Grassie, left the new band, another member quoted ‘We didn’t seem to sound musically together, and we all wanted to do different types of styles, it wasn’t working.’ However Mark and Yegor kept in contact. After a silent month of nothingness, they had a new member ‘Gal’ she played guitar, they needed a singer to complete the line up. Eventually they did find a singer, but that did not last, and they went through a period together where it was singer after singer, in other words there wasn’t much luck. November 2011, After having various singers such as Madeleine Todd & Jessie McGuire, Gal the ‘newest member’ decided that she’d had enough. The band was at a standstill for the rest of the year. Mark and Yegor were running out of hope. February 2012, Mark was approached by Euan Stamper about the band, a local singer and guitarist who also attends Craigmount. Mark was shocked that they’d had someone interested and called a rehearsal straight away. When Euan arrived, it sounded ‘electric’ the others were so pleased that they had finally found someone fit for the job. From that day on words this was a ‘new band’ and more importantly a ‘new start.’ They also decided they liked the idea of being a 3-piece and to stick with it. The band also agreed to change their genre to Alternative/Rock, playing covers and creating original material too. Their latest original track ‘Destroyer Of Worlds’ was recorded earlier this year and was recently launched on their Facebook page on the 13th May which truly represents their distinct and unique sound. In January, Mark and Euan parted ways with Yegor, and were on the search for a new bassist. They found a new one in the form of Sean Redpath, who attends St Augustines. Sean instantly felt welcomed by his new band mates and the new generation of High Priority was beginning to form.
