About Halloween Swim Team

Triple-synth band Halloween Swim Team was formed in 2003 by high school friends Dustin M Krapes and Jon Navarro. For several years they experimented with a variety of sounds and styles with a revolving cast of collaborators. Dustin would usually play guitar or bass and Jon would play synthesizer. In 2007 HST was joined by Scott Carrillo who took over on bass. Later that year, the band lost a drummer due to a hand injury. Deciding to move on, they dropped the guitars and began developing their electronic sound with all three on synthesizers backed by electronic beats. From 2007-2009 HST lived at the notorious Vermont House, an underground venue where they wrote and recorded The End Of The Sky, establishing a command post for the DIY community, and contributing to the rise in underground non-venues. The Vermont House also served as a command station for the band’s own record label, How To Be A Microwave, which is home to acts such as Michael Nhat, Stay Cool Forever, and Virginia Reed When time came to move on near the end of 2009, having recorded most of the instrumentation for their next album, Halloween Swim Team packed up and sought solitude in the city suburbs to finish recording the tracks. In 2010, the band emerged with a vengeance, racking up tour miles in its graffiti-covered van playing endless shows and releasing their 3 part ANTENNAAA.ep series. In August 2011, HST released their full length, self produced album "ANTENNAAA, or Hyperreal Transmissions In The Key of Doubt" as a free download on How to be a Microwave Records. HST broke up in December 2011. Members are currently pursuing other projects. www.halloweenswimteam.bandcamp.com
