Formed in Austin, TX, these varied and experienced musicians draw inspiration from their different backgrounds of experimental, progressive, punk, funk and world music. After playing with many different bands individually and being frustrated with what gets labeled as "popular" music, Dieter, Gonz, and Logun found themselves in a garage meticulously writing and arranging unpredictable and off-center songs. In their song writing, they use various time changes and jump through multiple genres in one song to create an atmosphere of new, avant-garde sounds for the ever-expanding music scene. Halaska challenges themselves and the audience with new rhythms, structures, and harmonies to create an audible adventure for not only the listeners, but for themselves as well.
