GERDA BLANK was a German woman shot attempting to cross the Berlin wall. It is also the project name of Rhys Braddock & Stuart Mills . Rhys, originally from New Plymouth, New Zealand, picked up drummer & vocalist, Stuart Mills, in Auckland, NZ, October 2007. They discovered they shared similar musical Ideals, wanting to quickly record an album, they did so and 'O' was born. This was recorded at Danny Manettos house (Voom, Dropdead Redhead) in two days with next to no overdubs, it was a 'let's see what happens' style recording, but the guys were happy with their raw results. With only playing two shows in New Zealand (Whammy Bar, Thirsty Dog) they left Kiwi shores for European soil, taking in Barcelona, Sarajevo and finally Czech Republic. The guys quickly set up residence in Brno, Czech Republic, which served as a great springboard for other possible touring countries. With the advantage of being strange men in a strange land, they played many domestic Czech festivals such as, Rock for People, Beseda u BigBitu, and Mighty Sounds, these were squeezed between other European shows in Germany, Holland, Slovakia, Austria, UK, and a tour in Serbia. They picked up Czech label, X-Productions to release their next record, 'Numbers' . Alex Limberg, Derek Saxemeyer and Mark Mc Glinchey assisting in the final results, this was positively praised in the press, albeit different from the the first record, a more laboured work but still having the gb stamp. In 2012 the guys were lucky enough to share the stage with Kyuss Lives! and Japandroids, both being at Pragues historic Lucerna theatre. In 2013, a new record beckons, 'Rituals', will be released in September, with tours in Switzerland, Germany, and Austria and no doubt with a slew of domestic festivals to showcase the new tunes. Rhys, puvodem z New Plymouthu na Novem Zelandu, se dal dohromady s bubenikem a zpevakem Stuartem Millsem v rijnu roku 2007 v Aucklandu, NZ. Zjistili, ze maji stejne hudebni idealy a vzory, vydali rychle album a tesili se na to, co jim jejich hudebni spoluprace prinese noveho. V cervenci 2008 se vydali na sve prvni evropske turne, od Barcelony po Bosnu.
